A Major Mag Talks Pot (again…)

When I started in the cannabis industry I put one thing on my whiteboard. Right at the top, front and center.

“Become a Cannabis-Wellness Thought Leader”

So when this happens it’s not by accident. It’s by intention.

Being quoted and cited in one of the world’s premier…and my fav…entrepreneurs magazine, INC.

If I can brag just a wee bit it’s actually the second time I’ve been featured in INC. The first time was pretty cool too.

The bigger point that I hope is not lost on you…yes you…the reader is that pretty much anything is possible.

I know you’ve heard that before BUT the distinction is you, your focus and desire.

Remember, the FIRST thing I did was write that one sentence on my whiteboard. Writing it made it visible…more real…and served as a reminder that that is what I was striving for.

It drove my daily activities and BAM!!!

Published again, this time as a cannabis expert in my fav magazine.

It’s that easy and if you’re an entrepreneur trying to stay focused then hit up our store. Grab some of the goods that have propelled me to ‘expert’ status.

Oh yeah…and don’t forget to use the code “RICKY” for a cool offer and free shipping at our store.

Set your intention…

Focus your efforts…

WIN.

A note to my future cannabis self…

The Olympics recently ended as I type this in early March of 2018.

I only say that for the sake of posterity because some of y’all may be seeing this for the first time in late 2019 or July of 2020.

The days when all this silliness is over.

You see…the truth of TODAY is that anything “cannabis” (shhhhhh…don’t say that too loud)…is kinda stigma-taboo-stoner’ish-don’t tell my mom I do this kinda thing.

I know.

It’s weird.

But it’s also the TIME I live in here in early March of 2018.

It’s a wild time lemme tell ya…

Some states say it’s ok to not only smoke weed but you can even grow your very own little and not-so-secret garden. If you know what I mean…

And others…well…others…let’s just say that “Mary Juana” is pretty much the equivalent of the old school ‘Scarlett Letter’…only it’s not scarlett it’s green.

Hell and let’s not glide by the hoopla that the US Attorney General just set in motion last month. Don’t EEEVVVENNNN get me started.

So yeah.

It’s a funny time.

And you know what’s even funnier. Not funny ha-ha but more funny-peculiar.

Ready?

That this plant is so misunderstood by some of the most…a-hem (clears throat sound)…intelligent folks I know.

Seriously.

Like just last week up in Austin I had a convo with this wicked smart lady friend and she was just so adamant that anything having to do with the word “cannabis” is taboo. In fact she even went on to say that I was essentially a drug dealer and I must say that that statement ruffled my feathers a bit.

Everyone knows I’m an RN turned entrepreneur and what we do here at Wellness Project RX is offer to humanity a true alternative to achieve a state of “super wellness”. And yeah…we are fans of *CBD as a legit alternative.

She also asked me to “convince” her that cannabis is anything BUT a Cheech and Chong, old school stigma.

And that’s when the voice of reason entered the convo b/c I shared that my job isn’t to convince folks. I went on that it’s our individual responsibility as informed, intelligent Americans to inform and empower ourselves with knowledge IF we feel the need to do so.

And especially even more so when the only opinion we have around a topic is decades old and based on comedic movies or 1970’s Woodstock’ish memories.

So why did I mention the Olympics at the onset of this scribe?

Because this article written goes on to cite references as related to THC and CBD and Olympic athletes.

So to my future self…on the day maybe 2…3…or 5 years from now when we look back at ignorance…dis-empowered “thinkers”…old school stigmas and basic misunderstanding remember you heard it here first.

Cannabis. Is. Here. To. Stay.

Whether one likes it or not.

Be empowered.

And if you want a little extra “power” be sure to go to our store and use the code “RICKY” for 10% off AND free shipping. My anxiety laden days are a thing of the past since I started a daily *CBD regimen (the gelcaps ROCK!!!)

Go ahead…be empowered.

Our yoga journey (continues)

We started a new practice called Bowspring. We’ve been doing Baptiste power yoga for several years now and this was kinda new.

I know…at first I was like “who names a yoga class after an archery tool and a Serta mattress and further what’s it gonna do for me?”

In other words…I was closed minded. And selfish. And the funny thing is that I am rarely closed minded or selfish.

I think what it really was is the fact that it was something out of my norm…outta my comfort zone and between you and me it seems…well…not very manly.

I mean just look at this pic…

I was trying to learn some basic movements and I was so reluctant to share this photo because I felt so weak. And a little amateur. And even a bit vulnerable.

And then I remembered the quote:

“The journey of a thousand miles begins with one step.” Lao Tzu

Not just the quote but more so what the quote means.

Not just what it means but what it means to me…and perhaps to you.

Because every time we begin anew the first thing any of us do is take that first step.

The first step is pretty much almost always a decision.

A decision to change…to be better…to make that leap…to move closer to the goal.

So I (we) made the decision to start a new practice and although you may not have a lick of interest in bowstring (shit, I can’t even spell straight I’m so tugging bowstring tired) yoga I bet you you have a lick of interest in something important to you.

Better health…stronger self-esteem…super wellness…deeper spirituality…

And nobody says it better that our homie Lao.

It takes the first step.

So go ahead. Decide. Then step.

In the meantime I’ll be at yoga.

Peace.

Why I Joined the Green Rush

My friend and homie Grant did 2 tours in Iraq as a Marine grunt. Meaning he was doing front line shit.

Came home.

Went to UT (University of Texas) and because he’s pretty smart he got a petroleum engineering degree and went to work at Chevron.

Here’s the rub.

The PTSD he was diagnosed with didn’t go away and like many vets he was seeking a way to function at a high level without all the traditional treatments like Paxil, Zoloft, Prozac, Effexor or Tegretol.

We remained friends and I kinda became Grants mentor. Especially as he sought a way to satisfy his entrepreneurial urge and at the same time help our fellow vets.

** SIDEBAR::: as a former Army nurse I gotta interject that PTSD is rampant among our heroes. Returing home from the stresses of combat and overseas service is placing enormous pressure on an ill equipped VA system **

Now back to the story….

After seeking alternative treatment options my homie Grant discovered CBD (cannabidiol) which is a component of cannabis and it became his mission.

As a result a company was born right smack dab in the middle of the green revolution. And I went all in for what is turning out to be the ride of a life.

In fact, if you’re reading this then you are somewhat a part of an even newer cannabis company and distributorship  where it’s our mission as caregivers and entrepreneurs to introduce to you a new type of wellness. One that includes what used to be a “counterculture” and oft stigmatized plant called cannabis.

Until the next installment where I’ll share the genesis of a cannabis company, stay tuned and follow the links below…

The next fifty

** Fair Warning **

This blog is real, raw and prone to foul language at times. I will also be talking about the cannabis industry, beer and a lotta donuts.

** You Have Been Warned **

Look, I just turned 50 this July and something kinda clicked. Well…a lotta things kinda clicked so in a sense Lisa (the beautiful lady who makes me whole) and I made some really big life decisions.

And that’s what this blog and site is about.

— It’s not about finding yourself…

— It’s not about getting second chances…

— hell, it’s not even about mid-life crisis…

It’s about doing what a lotta people only talk about and doing and doing it with style, class, and a counterculture twist that most 50 year olds would scoff at.

Oh…and most important not giving a phuck what people think, do or say about you.

Yeah.

That.

Mostly that.

Maybe you’ve toyed with the idea of chasing your dreams and saying adios to a life of mediocrity…look, I’m not judging you…and maybe you’ve wanted a peek into what that could look and feel like. That’s what we’re gonna talk about here because that’s the path we’re on.

The second fifty.

Donuts, beer and cannabis (and yoga and yes…Paleo <<at times>>).  I love donuts. Lots of them. I really dig a good IPA and cannabis? Well, that’s where this gets fun and interesting because it’s not only one of the hottest topics around but as an entrepreneur it’s chock full of opportunity which is why I became a shareholder in a privately held canna corporation and am now known as San Antonio’s first cannabis entrepreneur.

So stay tuned.

Go grab a donut…a beer or a…well…you know…and buckle up. This is gonna be a fantastic ride.
