We started a new practice called Bowspring. We’ve been doing Baptiste power yoga for several years now and this was kinda new.
I know…at first I was like “who names a yoga class after an archery tool and a Serta mattress and further what’s it gonna do for me?”
In other words…I was closed minded. And selfish. And the funny thing is that I am rarely closed minded or selfish.
I think what it really was is the fact that it was something out of my norm…outta my comfort zone and between you and me it seems…well…not very manly.
I mean just look at this pic…
I was trying to learn some basic movements and I was so reluctant to share this photo because I felt so weak. And a little amateur. And even a bit vulnerable.
And then I remembered the quote:
“The journey of a thousand miles begins with one step.” Lao Tzu
Not just the quote but more so what the quote means.
Not just what it means but what it means to me…and perhaps to you.
Because every time we begin anew the first thing any of us do is take that first step.
The first step is pretty much almost always a decision.
A decision to change…to be better…to make that leap…to move closer to the goal.
So I (we) made the decision to start a new practice and although you may not have a lick of interest in bowstring (shit, I can’t even spell straight I’m so tugging bowstring tired) yoga I bet you you have a lick of interest in something important to you.
Better health…stronger self-esteem…super wellness…deeper spirituality…
And nobody says it better that our homie Lao.
It takes the first step.
So go ahead. Decide. Then step.
In the meantime I’ll be at yoga.
